Three Moves Puzzle

Genre: Math Rating: 2 - Easy Source: Unknown
Brain Functions: Logical Thinking, Exact Calculations Hint    Solution

There are three piles of matches on the table in front of you. One pile has 11 matches; another pile has 7 matches; and a third pile has 6 matches. Your goal is end with three piles of 8 matches each. You must do this in exactly three moves.

A 'move' consists of taking a quantity of matches from one pile and adding them to a second pile so that the quantity in the second pile is twice what it was. For example, your first move might take 6 matches from the 7-match pile to make the 6-match pile have 12.
