Zodiac Tangrams Puzzle

Genre: Mechanical Rating: 3 - Easy to Medium Source: William Armstrong
Brain Functions: Focus / Visualization Solution

A set of tangrams contains seven pieces: 2 large triangles, 1 medium triangle, 2 small triangles, a square, and a parallelogram. They are used like jigsaw puzzle pieces to form stylized silhouette pictures.

To make a set of tangrams, cut a square in the seven pieces as shown. The large triangles are double the dimensions of the small triangles. The two small triangles can be used to form the square, the parallelogram, or the medium triangle. The pieces should be finished the same way on both sides because you can use the pieces both right-side-up and upside-down.

A tangram puzzle presents you with a silhouette made from all seven tangram pieces and asks you figure out how it was made. Note that the pieces can be turned over as well as rotated. Try forming the 12 shapes below.
